I’m sure that almost everyone knows that writer Elizabeth Moon has been stripped of her Guest of Honor position at Wiscon.

Some people are very upset, saying that there was an opportunity for dialogue there.

A couple three years ago, someone said to me, when I was complaining about the schooling I was getting; "If we (meaning her and her partner) are talking to you, it’s because we think you will listen and the effort will be worthwhile. otherwise, you wouldn’t get any conversation at all."

Which was a heartening thing to hear, and although I’ve fallen a few times, I try to live up to it.

Moon has proven that she is incapable of listening to dialogue. it’s unfair to expect (other) people to spend their precious Wiscon time talking to someone who doesn’t want to listen or answer.
