This just melts me…
a young man (I assume he’s young) on my home forums says;
I’m not sure I can be certain what men in general would like to find in a romance novel or even what they want in relationships. You are right that men are for the most part pretty lax about their mates, (which I personally think makes them boring, but that’s beside the point.)
What I want in a romance heroine is probably not so different from what you like in a romance hero. I want her to be sweet, trustworthy, tough, charming, athletic, chivalrous (towards the hero), self-reliant, smart, and a little bit cocky, but also vulnerable at her core.
I do think that the assertive heroines and the not so assertive hero’s are the one’s I like best, not because I am not an assertive person but because I like the princely type of heroines who are sweet, polite and slightly overconfident in themselves. That last trait makes me melt
, and I see women like that in lesbian fiction sometimes (which I love to read!) I do like suspense and action in romances, because just reading about people chatting and small talking page after page gets boring after awhile.
I recommended Sarah Rees Brennan to him. Who else guys, got recs for a darling het queerboy?
