The sky is falling, the sky is falling! Again!!!

 Livejournal just might be on the rocks once more. 
Or not, actually. Because these things do happen, and often in a morally reprehensible way.

Even so, back up your journals, my friends!  For windows users;  ljarchive is so good that I keep it on my partner’s computer for my backup use. It will save comments as well, and saves communities. 

There still doesn’t seem to be much out there for mac users. Back during the 07 blackout scandal, antennapedia designed this bit of code, written in python. I was not savvy enough to make use of it. 

You will be able to upload your journal to several different alternatives, insanejournal being one of them, and my fave, wordpress, being another, or just keep it handy on your hardrive.  

Bryant has a good post, judicious advice, and more backup resources And if worst comes to worst, we all ought to be able to keep in touch, wherever we end up at– thanks to the wonders of rss feeds…
