the left-hand update, ten days post surgery

The left hand is out of the big sloppy heavy clunky cast, that’s the good thing. What is not making me too happy though, is the slim, lightweight tight cradle that the tech molded for me–keeping my wrist at a certain angle, my four fingers bent about sixty degrees. It’s got velcro straps holding it in place– it has my fingers in a real bind. And it stays on for five weeks. ARRRGH! Claustrophobia!!!

I get to unwrap them once an hour to bend each finger separately, joint by joint. I must use my other hand to do this, and not stress the muscles or tendons on my entire left hand. I have freedom of thumb, though– I am allowed to hold a sheet of paper. Double fuckityfuck.

I was looking at my leather stash, thinking I could make a cover for it, in black latigo with studs, or maybe fringed buckskin with beads
.
BUT I’D NEED TWO HANDS TO DO IT!
