random writing news

Posted by Probablepossible on Dec 8, 2007 in Blogging |

yesterday I took a look in craigslist.org’s community listings, for writing groups or classes. I found a group– well-established, and five minutes away from me! I called the organiser. Knowing myself all too well, I told him that almost everything I write has sexual content. He chuckled and said; “there’s a difference between pron and erotica, you know, We are fine with that.”

I said that my characters are queer, gay, third-sex types, and that one of my projects might be a gay romance. He had a hard time picking the words, but managed a sentence along the lines of; ” Homoerotic… well, um… no, you won’t find any support here.”

I said, “I’m sure, and I felt it best to be upfront about that, because I don’t want to trouble a group.” thanked him for his time, and hung up.

See, I know myself. I could simply use the group for the non-sex parts, and drop them in private. But I know my mouth, and it gets away from me. And I’ve been working from home, and writing at home, and I need to re-socialise myself. *rolls eyes*

In other news, thanks to an online brainstorming session, I think I have a better handle on the adventures of Tam Catt, space privateer. I swear, my mind will not roll without someone else to kick the brakes loose!

If I share my plot here (as it stands right now) would anyone be willing to comment on it? The plot is rated PG, regardless of what the novel might turn out to be.
