Livejournal loading slow?
I gave up on myspace after four months-ish, because of the horrible loading times due to the million ads per page. It’s become an internet trailor park. What sorrow, to see LJ going down that path as well!
I realised thta I no longer use any browser except for firefox– and it occurred to me to go see what add ons were available. I’m embarrassed to tell you, that there’s been an excellent, highly configurable solution waiting for me all this time; Adblock Plus. Go get it, if you haven’t yet done so!
Still, live journal was taking longer to load than I remembered. Well, my poor ols G4 is well into dinosaur’s years…
Then I stumbled onto a conversation about SNAP– you know, that cute little doohickey that lets you look at a webpage without actually clicking on it. I thought it was really cute. But it seems, it’s the culprit. this post explains why, and what to do about it if load time is important to you– for instance, if you exist with dialup. I did the terminal thing, for mac, and I feel ever so much yummier now…
