It’s still monday…

And it’s still racefaily.

In the past week or so, I’ve read a handful of posts from people who seem to have just now come across racefail09. and they are saying; WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE, IT’S ONLY FICTION AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, DON’T READ IT! AND CENSORSHIP! AND STFU!!!

AND I’M PISSED OFF ABOUT RACISM WHEN IT’S MY OWN PERSONAL MINORITY GROUP SO STFU!!!

Which makes me sad. And a little ANGRY. because if you are going to concentrate on one minority and the others don’t matter? Ouch.

Some of my friends know how I feel about words like"slut,"  "cunt’ and "bitch." so, the things that I read in neo-prodigy’s lj seriously triggered my female ass, even though they are two years old– at least, the words I read are two years old, and if’ he’s called anyone a cunt since then, I just don’t want to know. So I’ve been going back and forth about the banner, honestly, because– I really really hate it when men use slurs related to femaleness– when women use them too. And it’s not about reclaiming those words, because those words need to be limited. They do not refer to whole women.

it’s about reclaiming the status denied to women.

But then, I look at my files and I’ve found like four or five metas that I’ve begun on the subject of anti-racism, and have not been able to finish, because the more important something is to me, the harder it is to muster my arguments. Which means that my essays don’t mean anything yet.
I dunno. I can argue against racism– rebut or riff off, or re-word, or, in a pinch, endure until my opponent gives up. You’ll find my comments all over lj and beyond. But it doesn’t seem as if i can simply write the essay.

I have lots of unfinished meta about female identity, too. Too damn important.

So– here, have a beautiful banner;

click on it and read much goodness.

(eta)Although I have been turned down for membership as a white ally,
I’m assuming because of my dislike of mysogynistic language.

Oh, and the mammothfail thread at tor has been unlocked for comments once again.

    I get the comments where POC say they get tired of trying to reach people who continue to fail to understand what they’re talking about. The fails get the story, they get the analogies (to handicaps, to obesity, to being female, to being gay, to whatever minority group you care to name) and then fall at the goddamn gate and say dumb things that they wouldn’t say if the “adjective of choice” involved any of those other “issues” or “problems” or “isms” instead of “skin color.”
    Sigh.
    For some, I know they don’t have the same history as we ‘Maricans do with institutionalized slavery, but they darn well do have it with colonialism and appropriating wealth and all the rest of *that* Imperial baggage.
