It’s not a clichè yet…

I got a very humorous (because the critic also gave me a 100% rating) feedback comment on the recent sonnet.
It intimated that
yearning sighs
gossamer caress
and
spectral hosts
not to mention
brilliant flame
were all of them tired cliches.

Well, it’s very possible, thinks I, so I hit Google.

the scores;
“gossamer caress” 43 hits- that ain’t no kind of cliche, if that’s all there is on the internet!
“yearning sighs” came in higher, at 550 hits.
“spectral hosts” came around only 82 times (300 if you remove the “s” at the end)
“brilliant flame” of course, was a popular phrase- 17,900 instances were found.

I might work on those last three, but “gossamer caress” could stay, as far as that goes. 43 ain’t bad! *grin*
