Today, I got four dress shirts; dark moss green smooth cotton, with an actually tight collar!

White broadcloth with a tailer’s label from Hong Kong– the kind that has the client’s name (D Rhenn, I think) and the date (Sept 1992)!

OMIGOD beautiful dark cream silk broadcloth with wonderful vintage-looking details and a Paris label! It had after-the fact darts in the back, which I have pulled out; luckily they were sewn with a ball-point needle that didn’t chop into the fibers.

And a Liz Claiborn mens-styled (left over right buttoning, that is) soft seablue in a silk linen blend, also with some nice extra detailing! I don’t know yet how it will look because it had been starched stiff as a board. it’s being abused by my washing machine as I type this.

I put back the spectacular formal shirt with french cuffs made from a rich heavy Egyptian cotton. I teared up a little as I did so, but I  know that I would look like a girl wearing my boyfriend’s shirt, because it was too loose in the neck. Love hurts.

Title 1; "Danny’s Boy"  was fine until the resemblance to the song slapped me in the face.

title 2 is; "Little Big Dog" which is awfully close to the title of a different part of the arc involving different people, "Emily and the Big Dog" but– that could probably be retitled itself…

And Shapelings, I am ashamed to tell you I had a moment there — just a little one, like a second long — of thinking, “Wow, that was –” Except, before I could even get to what it was — arrogant? cocky? inappropriate? — I was like, KATE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU WHAT THAT WAS WAS THE TRUTH. And P.S. You think exactly the same thing about yourself.

But I got distracted by kinkbingo posts, and a truly adorable tentacles fic.

See? SEE? THIS is why I love fandom. tentacles! CUTE!

But here’s something else, that nobody seems to talk about much; I adore that story, and I get a great sense of the guys, even though I have NO idea who they or their band is. I’m like that with pretty much any fic I read, because I don’t do media entertainment — either it’s porn anyway, in which case it’s about as universal as it gets, or it’s long enough that there’s a bit of worldbuilding involved anyway.

My next meta post should be on the topic of in media res,  I suppose.
