Editor rant; “lightly”
I just read; "She licked her lips lightly."
Recently, I have read about biting lightly, sighing lightly, smiling lightly, frowning lightly. Or, as in the case of a blow-job description just now, suckling lightly.
"Iight" just doesn’t strike me as an all-purpose adverb.
"She licked her lips nervously" or "softly", or um… maybe she just licked them. Or maybe her tongue crept out to touch her lip.
Vamps bite, you betcha. But what is a "light bite?" Shallow, perhaps? just resting the fangs on the skin?
Suckling… gently? Too gently for the gentleman’s preference, making him groan with frustration?

Dude, do not get me started.
If you are bossing around some would-be writers right now, you may want to try revoking their permission to use adverbs. When it comes to adverbs, it’s cruel to be kind.
Ooh, and “Sighed.” Nobody gets to sigh, no more.
