 LJ have inserted Javascript into every page; the script intercepts all attempts to copy URLs or open them in new windows. If you copy a URL for a connerce commerce site, LJ inserts LJ’s affiliate code so that LJ can monetize it. Some users have reported that the code, as usual, is buggy, and can slow down various keystrokes (ctrl-click, right-click) so that they are no longer useful.

To thwart this one:

1. Install the restore context menu bookmarklet ( often useful for websites that think any use of the right-mouse button, which lets you do things like Back and Open In New Window without shifting position, must be intended for image theft). While you’re at it, install zap colors; one mouse click and that red-on-black page is readable!
2. Opt out of LJ’s rewrites (note: this doesn’t reliably work on all rewrites or indeed on future LJ attempts to monetize.)
