BACKUP is the meme of the day
I spent last night downloading backups of the two comms I mod, plus my own journal. What’s sad is that, while you can retrieve the original posts, the comments — the thing that makes a community a community– doon’t come along. I’m hoping that LJ will add the comments to the backup capabilities someday, but I wouldn’t expect it.
Although none of my friends or comms list any of the currently EBUL interests, who knows what the next panic button will be– Aardvaarks perhaps. Therefore, I will continue to keep backups. One more administrative task on my plate.
One thing the download experience told me; “What are you” quizzes and other memes of that nature do not stand the test of time. Like potato chips, you don’t want to see them come back up…
