A friends list in the hundreds…

I dunno about that. I get that it’s wonderful to have hundreds of people watching you, which increases your chances of finding good commentary and conversations.

But my reading list is just so huge, I miss posts. On LJ i solved this by setting up something like six filters, by interest; storytellers, writers, non-fans, crafts, porn communities etc, and visit the groups as my desire dictates. I’ll do that on DW too just as soon as it’s implemented, but untill then? now that it’s implemented,  thank you [personal profile] the_stowaway for pointing me to it!.

If you are anything like me, you probably can’t handle a Huuuge reading list, and I know that my friends who have just now added everyone and their auntie will probably miss my posts from now on.

To reassure a little bit, if it’s really important public issue, other folks will also crosspost, or refer to it. If it’s personal, and important to just that person, they will come back and PM you or repost of something if they think you need to respond. It might not hurt to post a disclaimer (like this post I’m responding to) on your profile on both lj and DW.

I select which folks FW to mail Vs elaborate filters etc.
And- I’d bet that many folks we “know” have more than one ident between the various journalspheres entangled in mutual follows. Often we may not even suspect #LjName as being anyone from a famous public person down to just a Walter Mitty clone Cubicle Farmer :) Which is simply as it needs to be for many people. The reasons “Why” may be simple or complex. Some folks overtly declare Ident X as being for certain aspects of their life, others are totally stealthed or only have a single Nom de Keyboard for everything. Either way- I try to accept folks as innocent of malice unless they prove my perception wrong somehow.
Which sort of is oblique to your filter explanation, but it’s actually on track as to which “persona” I know folks by if not several divergent ones. Filtering what I read to account for such complexity got so unwieldy as to be counterproductive.
I am glad you found something that works for you
